From 9–10 October 2025, the DelHyVEHR team participated in the 9th edition of the Wind meets Gas Conference, hosted by the New Energy Coalition at the historic Martinikerk in Groningen, the Netherlands.

The event brought together more than 500 professionals from industry, government, and academia to discuss the future of Europe’s energy transition — from offshore energy to hydrogen. This year’s conference was held under the guiding theme Securing economy and energy in the North Sea region.

Programme Highlights

Over two days, attendees enjoyed a diverse programme of keynotes, plenary sessions, and parallel discussions covering the geopolitical, technological, and economic dimensions of the energy transition. These included:

  • Opening keynote by Tom Middendorp, retired General of the Dutch Ministry of Defence, who stressed the urgent need for energy security in a shifting geopolitical landscape and called for greater resilience built on adaptability and innovation.
  • Plenary sessions on:
    • Reshaping the Geopolitics of Energy
    • Trade Wars, Transactionalism, and Climate Denialism
    • Shaping a Resilient and Inclusive Energy Future for the North Sea and Beyond
  • Breakout sessions on:
    • Beyond Electrification – Fuelling the European Energy Transition with Nordic Green Carbon
    • Offshore Security in the Energy Transition
    • Ports at the Helm of Europe’s Hydrogen Future

In addition, a variety of networking opportunities –featuring pre-arranged matchmaking sessions and an evening networking dinner- encouraged dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders from the European energy community.

DelHyVEHR at the Conference

The DelHyVEHR team was present with a dedicated exhibition booth, where partners presented how the project addresses a critical gap in the hydrogen value chain by developing technologies for a large-scale liquid hydrogen refuelling station. The booth served as a valuable platform for engaging with other energy stakeholders, exchanging technical insights, and exploring potential synergies with other hydrogen infrastructure initiatives across Europe.

Reflections and Outlook

Participation in Wind meets Gas 2025 reaffirmed DelHyVEHR’s commitment to supporting Europe’s clean hydrogen economy through innovation and collaboration.  The insights and connections gained in Groningen have strengthened our consortium’s motivation to continue its work toward demonstrating the next generation of LH₂ refuelling solutions — paving the way for hydrogen-powered mobility across land, air, and sea.
